Howdy and welcome to our flock. Pull up a chair and stay a while. You have got some great advice from some of the best already, but I always say go with your first instincts. Buffs are a great breed and you won't be disappointed. You might check out Easter Eggers as well. They are beautiful in their own unique way plus they lay green eggs. But you will make a great choice either way. If you have any other questions, concerns, or just want to get information, you are in the right place. So welcome again so glad you're here!
Hi, it's nice to have you here! Do be sure to check out the Florida state thread, I used to frequent that thread when I lived in FL and always found members there to be very supportive of each other.
Since you are limited to 2 chickens, you may want to try 2 different breeds (maybe the Buffs and the EE?). It's fun to see the different colored feathering and you could get 2 different colors of eggs if your EE lays something other than brown. One thing about the BO's, I've read they are a broody kind of gal and chickens won't lay while they're broody. If you got a second breed, like an EE, that isn't typically broody then you still have a chance of getting eggs while the BO is temporarily out of commission.
As you have already received some great tips and advice not much left for me to say except that I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.
If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
