Howdy! So thankful for this site and forums - here‘s an overview of who and what we are:

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

yes, new as of the pandemic - always wanted to try it, have a half acre to free range them so got some pullets in March when all the stores ran out of eggs!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

5 now, but started with 6 - very sad to report that we lost one this morning, but I still can’t tell why. Thought she was broody, then very lethargic for several days but then yesterday seemed back on track, but this morning she could barely move and she expired within 30 min. 😔

(3) What breeds do you have?

Rhode Island Reds - hens only

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

love the eggs and also watching them. Very relaxing.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

loved to travel, but not now, so this is it plus work.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

Married 35 years, 21 yo son in his senior year in college, no pets other than our birds - work in International Sales. TAMU Class of ‘86 - whoop!

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
