Hello from Oregon & welcome to BYC

I'm not sure on the availability in your area but look into pet sitters. There are people that are willing to do more than look after cats and dogs. That way you can go on vacation & know your animals are cared for by someone you trust. One of your neighbors might even be willing to pet sit. Best of luck.
I think this could turn into an avenue that might work for us. Thanks for the idea!

Where in Oregon are you? I grew up camping along the Oregon coast, and have a god daughter in Portland now.

Greetings! We are tied down with the mob (chickens, cats, and dogs), however one neighbor loves to house sit while we are gone and I have a few friends that are willing. Ask around.

Hello and
welcome-byc.gif

I am also in NC, though not close to you, and I am actually a pet sitter by profession. I would definitely second that possibility, personally living in an apartment as a farmer's daughter I would welcome the chance to care for someone's backyard flock. Especially ducks, they've been a favorite of mine since we had them on the farm when I was a child.
Also you may find that one of your neighbor's would love to care for the ducks while you are away, or trade pet sitting when they travel at different times of the year. If you have neighbors that have their own backyard poultry try asking them who they have care for them when they travel.
My own mother in deceased and as my father is growing older, I can relate to your need for the freedom to visit for that quality time.

Best wishes for fulfilling your duck dreams and preserving your family travels!
Cheers,
Jessie

I'm about an hour south of Portland in the Eugene/Springfield area. Love camping at the coast - We have stayed in a few places from Florence up to Brookings.

Ah! Love, love, love that area. My childhood favorites! I'm hoping to convince my mom to go with my daughter, and a brother and I to Cannon Beach in a camper this summer when we are with mom on Camano Island. We usually tent when we camp, but at 85 that's too much for mom. It was too much for her at 30! She likes secure shelter.

PS Brenda J,

Who's that in your avatar? The chicks are adorable, and that looks like a good momma! (I don't know my poultry yet, at all).
