Hello! I'm a central Illinois mom, and my 8 year-old daughter brought a handful of quail eggs home from her cousin's house a little over a week ago. She wanted to hatch them, so we said she could try. She (with help from Dad) put together a lightbulb and a Styrofoam cooler with a thermometer and hydrometer. Seemed like a fun project even though odds didn't seem great that anything would come of it.
She's been turning them and monitoring the temp for 8 days now... Out of curiosity I candled some on my cellphone flashlight and I guess life finds a way! There are healthy looking veining on more than half, and most of the remaining are too dark to see through.
We have been talking about getting chickens for years, so I suppose this is the push we needed to get our feet wet! I need to learn a lot fast and am so glad to have found this resource! It looks incredible!
Thank you for reading- I'm going to begin my reading through the records now!
