Hello Everyone. So happy to be a new member of this community. I found this group when I Googled how to help one of my roosters recover from a bad case of pecking. Although I have raised chickens before, it was many years ago and in another area of the country. Being in a different climate has made this a somewhat different adventure. We are in Louisiana, so while we don't have ice & snow to worry about, the year-round humidity and extended seasonal heat make for their own set of potential issues.
We currently have 18 chickens, ranging from 9-16 weeks in age. Quite unintentionally, we have 2 separate flocks. The first, older flock of 8 is Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Reds & White Leghorns. The second, younger flock of 10 is Buff Brahmas, Ameraucanas & White Leghorns. Merging the two flocks is one of the things I'm hoping to learn!
My husband and I are retired. We live next door to our 4 young grandchildren. We have a 3yr old Blue Heeler and 5 cats, 4 of which we bottle fed when they became orphaned. Our hobbies are Grandchildren, chickens and gardening!
Looking forward to hearing everything you all have to share and learning to keep my flock healthy & happy!

Welcome to the Backyard Chickens flock. You may want to check out the "Look but don't touch," method of integrating one group of chickens with another. I believe it is the kindest process without bloodshed.

I will. Thanks you so much for the help!

Hello and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. Here's a few links on integration, including the one mentioned by D/Diva.

No reason not to cherry pick bits from each, to suit your own setup
Thank you so much for the information!
