(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? My mom has had chickens for the last 10 or so years, but I am new to having chicks personally.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I have 7 chicks that were hatched on 2/19

(3) What breeds do you have? 1 Silver Lace Polish, 1 Gold Lace Polish, 1 Buff Orphington, 1 Cinnamon Queen, 1 Brama and 2 Aracaunas

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Any google search I've done with questions about chicks has lead me here.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Full time mom, enjoy gardening, hanging at the beach and spending time with family.

Welcome to Backyard chickens. Do you live in Hawaii or just love it? Who doesn't?
I live in Kauai. We have so many wild chickens/roosters who call our property home, but don't provide eggs.... we decided to bite the bullet and get some chicks of our own. We already have the clucking and crowing that come with chickens, might as well have some that provide eggs and don't just wake us up!

Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you joined us. The islands are really beautiful. I've only had the pleasure of visiting Oahu. Maybe some day I'll sail around all of them... Right after I win the power ball ;) There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Hope you enjoy the site!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out. These two might be of particular interest to you:
Topic/Question of the week - Brooding and supplementing heat for chicks
Topic of the Week - Raising Chicks

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Best wishes and good luck!
