Hi, My name is Beth. First time chicken owner with 21 chickens. Black Astrolorps, sex links, buff orpington, golden commit, americana, a silver laced wyandotte and a jersey giant. Raised all but 4 from chicks. Cannot see life without them. Getting ready for winter in southern ny and trying to figure out the best way to keep their water warm. There is always something new to learn. Looking forward to chatting with other chicken lovers.

Hello, Beth, and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
I'm also in southern NY, the Southern Tier to be exact.
I use a heated base fount waterer kept at chest height in the run and a loosely covered bucket with horizontal nipples and a thermostatically controlled bird bath heater in it in the coop.
