Hello everyone!

My name is Joyce and I am a new chicken keeper. I live in the state of Utah in the US. I recently inherited 4 adult hens from a family who was moving out of state and are unable to bring their chickens with them.

I’ve only had my chicken for 5 days. So far, I’ve only gotten 1 egg. They’re probably stressed since their diet, environment, and pecking order changed (we only have 4/8 hens from the original flock). But I was really hoping they’d be laying more by now. But I will be patient and wait.

Thanks so much for letting me be here.

Hi Joyce, congrats on your new flock! How old are the hens, do you know? And are there any health issues? Changes (like the ones you mention) can affect frequency of laying. Give them time to adapt and you should start getting more eggs.

Thank you!

They’re 1 year old. They’re having wet poop it seems. I posted it in another thread. I’m guessing from change of diet. But it could be something that’s why I posted.

Thank you for the encouraging words.
