Welcome to BYC!!Hi all!
My spouse and I are 16 weeks into having chickens for the first time. We got a group of 4 silkies from my spouse's Dad at 2 days old and have been caring for them since.
2 of 4 are roosters so far so we are in the process of rehoming one. Will also be upgradingour coop next week and building a nice insulated one for winter. We hope to add another 2-3 silkie hens or other bantam hens to our crew!
We chose to start with silkies because of their docile temperament and small size!
Other hobbies for us are gardening, boardgames and spin classes!
Now that I refuse to allow them to be broody, they've gotten so much prettier! I just use a huge dog kennel on the opposite side of the yard. They can live there for the four days it takes to break them.Welcome. Silkies are very sweet and easy to keep, except for how broody they can get...just be prepared to deal with this if needed.
