Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow Beautiful chickens!! Thank you for sharing.

Would you mind letting me know the site you find info on mottleds? I have a pair of 4-month-old black mottled and assumed I'd just breed the two, but now I'm intrigued by what you're doing. I have a lot of choices so I could do this differently but never considered it.
The one mottled that I have hatched is from “The Mutt House” in Saskatchewan but I ended up ordering 32 eggs from McTamaras poultry in Alberta and I’m so excited to see them hatch. I havnt come across a flick that has as high quality as Tamara in Canada yet. If your in the states I feel you have so many more options for High quality breeders IMO, or maybe I just havnt found the other true gems in Canada yet.. when I tell you I go back and look at the pictures of Tamara’s flock daily I mean it! I regret not getting some of her silver laced at the same time! Now I did get 18 detached air cells, 6 quit developing, 1 never developed and 7 developing all as they should. They are on day 13 and I’m still quite hopefull of the 25 still in the incubator! I’ll be sure to post pictures of these guys once hatched!

I should add her shipping was amazing, there’s so many variables to shipped eggs I’m happy with 25-50% hatch rate. I don’t think the detached air cells or any of the ones not developing has any reflection on Tamara’s breeding! These things happen and it’s unfortunately just another part of shipping eggs across the country!

Hello again! Here's the update on some of the chicks I had initially wondered what sex they were. I re-homed chicks 1, and 3 and have attached pictures of how 2, 4 and 5 grew out as well as some of the other chicks I hatched this year and group photos of the colourful ladies!! Needless to say if I thought I was crazy about the orps before, Im psycho about them now lol. Im so excited for next spring and the opportunity to better my flock with selective breeding choices!
