New member intro

Hello. I don't have chickens yet, and I want to learn everything I can before I do. I love nature, chickens, and all farm animals. I live on three acres in central South NC.
I work from for Chewy. I have 5 dogs which will NOT be interacting with my chickens.
I want to start with just 4 because I know about chicken math.

Welcome to BYC. Be prepared definitely eases the stress. I've always raised chicks outdoors so I always have my coop ready for them. Usually I let mama hens raise them, but since you don't have that option, I recommend a flat brooder heater rather than a heat lamp. A cheaper option is a diy mama heating pad.
