Hey there everyone! My name is Isabelle and here’s my little intro post to get started in this community! Yay!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new-ish. We have had our oldest member of the flock for about 15 months now :)

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Only four are left right now! And hopefully all here to stay. We started with 14 from eggs, gave 6 to a friend to add to her flock and then planned to keep the rest. However, all but one ended up being a roo so we had to rehome them and were left with only one girlie for about 6 months until we could get some more chicks in the fall.

(3) What breeds do you have?
I am no expert, but I believe we have an astralorp, black copper maran, Easter egger & white leghorn! Rainbow eggs is the goal lol.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They are so interactive with me and my kiddos and have so much personality and calm me down emotionally. And they provide eggs for our family! Win-win!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I work professionally as a mental health counselor, but also work as a stay at home/homesxhool mom to 4 and run an in-home pastry bakery with my husband as a step to our bigger future dream goals :)

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I have 4 kiddos so far, ages 14-1. We have a family dog, a fish, and our flock. We live in the suburbs and do more “urban homesteading” if you will. But are working towards eventually having some land to call our own and really grow into working the land for ourselves.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
Googling questions over time honestly! lol. And finally wanting to be able to share myself and ask my own questions, specifically with sexing the chicks!
