(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I've just gotten my first raptor herd in my adult life, we had chickens growing up, but never had my own birds until now. My babies are about 7 weeks old.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I currently have 10 chickens. 6 Sapphire Gem pullets and 4 Rhode Island Red pullets (tho I suspect one of the RIR may be a roo)
(3) What breeds do you have?
Tractor supply specials. They are supposed to be Sapphire Gem and RIR.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They're such happy little creatures that I've enjoyed watching their little personalities come out.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Horses and building things. I find I dabble in way too many little hobbies to even try to list out.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I've got 2 dogs, a barn kitty, a horse, and the 10 chickens. Seems the longer I live on my lil 4 acres, the more critters I add in. I had meat rabbits, but my buck and doe have since passed from a long happy life.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I've been reading threads since I got my chicks, only seems fitting to join now.
