Hello everyone! I hope that I'm doing this correctly? I'm a brand new member. My name is Tasha aka "piximommy". I recently took home three chicks from my sons 1st grade class. Chicks were hatched 6/1. My husband & I are in the beginning stages of building their coop.

Welcome to BYC, Tasha. Glad you decided to join our flock. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children My children and granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loved our chickens and made lap pets of the calmer and more gentle breeds. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your coop built.

Welcome to the flock. Sounds like they will need to be moved to the coop soon. You may want to check out the coop section for various styles and building suggestions.

Thank you everyone for all the warm welcomes!!! What a lovely community you all have here. So glad to become a part of it:) Our coop is coming along. We were given a structure from friends that were no longer using, but had to take apart for transport & replace the roof & floor, but its up and standing in our yard!! At the moment I keep the chicks in a pet carrier at night & let them range free in our yard during the day. I am curious as to what breeds we have. If I can figure out how to post a pic maby you all can help me identify? One is black, one white & the other has different colored reds.

ok got a pic up. Meet Midnight Cherry & snowflake!

What an adorable flock! Their names really fit them. If you can get individual pictures of them (preferably a side shot of them standing so people can see leg color, feathering etc, and one of the head so you can see comb type) you might want to post in the What Breed/Gender forum for help with figuring out what they are https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this
