(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I am new to chickens. My chickens had hatched on May 27 and 28


(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

I have 2. One rooster and one hen

(3) What breeds do you have?

I have no idea. They are a mixed breed.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Watching them and of course hopefully eggs

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Reading, playing video games, writing

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I have a large extended family. I have no other pets


(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?

I found BYC when I was looking for information on caring for my chickens. A couple months now. I need input on my chickens

Definitely watch the cockerel doesn't over breed the pullet. The ratio of roo to hen should be somewhere around 1 to 8-9, this prevents over breeding. A roo can literally over mate a hen to death. So just watch carefully, and separate the roo out during the day if he is too much.
