Hello from NC welcome! There are many here that could probably answer that for you. This is my first year. My flock is 40wks and apparently Australorps molt earlier than I thought. What breeds do you have? Cant wait to hear the "story". LOL
My older girls are an Ameracauna and a RIR. The babies are a Blackstar and an Isa Brown.

So, the story. We looked at probably 50 houses before finding the one we wanted. I had always wanted chickens but we'd lived in apartments and I didn't really know how to get started anyway. When we saw our current house the family selling had a handful of chickens still left from a large backyard flock (we live in the city and they had around 20 birds, which is enormous for a Chicago lot.) They were taking their run apart and getting ready to haul away the coop. I said "now wait a minute!" And the rest is history, we raised our first two chicks last year as a COVID project and we're planning to get three more in the spring.
