Welcome from New Orleans. I am so glad you decided to join us. I also rescued a hen and her young chick just before a hurricane. They had been living in someone's garden. Well as luck would have it the chick turned out to be an OEGB cockerel. He is a small, cute as a button little fellow, who while friendly with humans, has taken over my flock of full sized hens. We are not allowed to have roosters here. So this little cockerel will have to go, as he has started to crow. I hope you have luck re-homing your little guy. I know it can be heartbreaking, but perhaps you will find him a good home. Have you checked your state thread or states around you if you are near a border. You may want to put the area you live in so that it can be seen. This often helps people to help you, if and when you should need it.
