Following new member prompts for introduction.
I'm based out of San Diego, Valley Center and typically have about 3-5 hens. I like heritage breeds .... Orphington's are my very favorite due to size, temperament, versatility and lay habits.
I joined the forum as finding a poultry vet is getting more and more difficult unless you are a commercial operation. No matter how long I've had chickens, there is always something new I need to learn each year it seems.
I most recently posted under "Emergencies" as my hen was attacked by squirrels who ate a significant portion of her neck. I'm nursing her now but am looking for any advise that can be offered.
