(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, my wife is a 2nd grade teacher I have been asking to start our own chickens for several years, every year as part of her curriculum they hatch eggs from a local farmer who does not want to have the chickens back. This year. At the start of this process she asked me how serious I was about getting chickens. The chickens were hatched in her classroom. After a couple of days there they got to come home to us around May 20th.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 13 chickens. I believe two are roosters restaurant, all hens but unsure at this time.
(3) What breeds do you have?

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love the Hands-On process that I am raising a portion of my own food. In addition, we always have had a garden.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Camping, woodworking, knitting
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We are a family of five. My oldest is a senior. My youngest is a 7th grader. I work as a cardiology physician assistant. We currently have a labradoodle dog that is approximately 4 years old as well. She has not liked the chickens as much.
