(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I purchased my first 12 hens in the last week of May 2025. I just got my first eggs last week. So far, only 1 hen is laying. patiently waiting for the others.

(2) What breeds do you have?

I have 6 Buff Brahma and 6 Australorpe. All Females

(3) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

They assist in a self sufficient lifestyle, healthy eggs, calming nature.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Musician, Writer, Traveling, Cooking, Outdoorsy.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I am retired from DOD. Married with 4 kids. I have a large dog, 6 cats and now 12 chickens. I am working to build a farm in my modest back yard.
