Welcome to the flock, I realize I am coming in late to this. If no one has mentioned it before, you can find hen aprons /saddles in the BYC buy/sell/trade forum - under the heading "everything else for sale." After a day or so the hens get used to wearing them and it does a lot of help their sores heal. Some actually enjoy wearing them. They do look very cute in their outfits.

You mentioned a couple hens didn't have pulled feathers - they are most likely the ones doing the damage. If your plucked hen was afraid of the rooster, she wouldn't walk beside him - she would be hiding in the coop. Hope things are going smoothly now.
