I'm not sure if I'm doing this right. I'll answer the questions that were sugessted for new members.
I'm new to raising chickens from baby chicks. A couple of years ago I got 6 chickens but they were 1 year old and laying eggs. Our chicken coop wasn't safe anymore so I got rid of those chickens and planned on getting more when we had a new coop. My husband wasn't that motivated to start building so I went ahead and got the babies and let him know we would need a coop soon. He did a great job building one. When you go into the coop the first part is a storage area for food and bedding and from there we go into the coop. It was built a couple of feet off the ground to provide shade. He put a door in the floor so to clean it I just put the wheel barrow under the coop where the door is and sweep it right into the wheel barrow. I have 15 chickens one ended up being a rooster.
I have 2 black sex link, 3 black australops, 3 rhode island reds, 1 gold sex link, 3 americaunas, 1 partridge rock, & 2 leghorn. One of the leghorns is the rooster. They are about 12 weeks now. I can't wait until they start laying eggs. I enjoy reading, cooking, hiking. We have 1 cat and a dog. I have 4 grown kids.
