Welcome welcome welcome!!!! I am still kinda new but I have received a wealth of information from some pretty knowledgeable folks! Good luck with your flock!
Hi I am new to BYC and fairly new at raising chickens. I have 12 hens and 3 roosters of mixed breeds. I live on 3 acres in the Sierra foothills. I have one baby chick born at the end of summer, who I had to put in my ICU because she was very weak and not doing well. Because of that she was seperated from mama hen and her 3 siblings for over at least 6 weeks. Now she is strong and healthy, and ready to be introduced to her flock. I have been putting her in a dog run in yard of the coop during the day and in the coop at night. However she is afraid to interact with the flock if I put her into the yard and is always reluctant to come out of the coop in the morning when I let the rest of the chickens out. So she has been in the dog run for 3 weeks. We are now expecting our first rain and possible snow so should I bring her back into the house or let her fend for her self in the coop during the day? Oh and did I say I am very attached to this chick ?
