from Connecticut! It sounds like you've got a really colorful flock started! Good for you. Enjoy them and let us know if we can help with anything along the way!!

Wow thanks for all the greetings. I have been at the meat farm earlier today and I have had my first run in with the American Dominique breed. Has anyone ever noticed that they will run directly into the brooder walls? Lol. I laugh but I'm kinda concerned because they'll do it until they're dizzy and every couple nights I find a dead American Dominique chick. All other chicks are cool other than them. They also seemed to imprint on humans like no other breed I've dealt with yet. They will stare at me and follow me intensely as I work around them and if I put my hand down in the brooder they will run into my hands...its very interesting. All the while the Rhode Island Reds, Leghorn and Wyandotte chicks ignore me as usual. My concern is that they're trying so hard to get to me that they'll run into the wall, causing injury or fatigue and sometimes death. Is this common for this breed, and if so how long does this behavior last?
