(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new, my chicks are 3 no old. I got them in Mar 2022
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I only wanted 4-6 chicks. That was my plan. But when do things ever go according to plan? So I have 12! Lol
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have 2 golden comets: Yolko and Buttercup;
2 black sex linked: Kerin and Kali
4 blue Australorp: Amelia aka Emilio (Rooster), Marilee, Claramay, Ashley;
2 Easter Eggers: Ester and Lilly;
2 Speckled Sussex: Lacey and Dottie
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Interacting with them, I can sit and watch them for hours on end. I call it chickovision. I also love to garden with them. They love to dig weeds with me.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, journaling, canning.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am retired RN, I have 4 grown children, 7 grandchildren. Love of my life is a 12 y/o Shih Tzu who answers to the name of Eli.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
My daughter is a member, and told me about it. She is also has chicken, about double my count.
