:welcome We are happy you’re here!
If your run is constructed of anything but hardware cloth, it is important that your birds are locked up every evening. I used chicken wire for years, until one night... Raccoons pulled birds up to the fencing, and began their attack. They also broke into the run, and did more damage.
We do encourage you to ask questions, and share photos of your other animals, garden, and what you’re building.

OK I will see if I can figure out how to post this. I don't have any chickens ,,yet! Just received 150' of 6' chicken netting for my future run, I am working on building supports. Have to convert a small structure to a chicken coop and then I am ready to get some chickens!
Hi! :frow Welcome to BYC! What exactly is chicken netting? How many chickens are you going to get? You came in at exactly the right time! Before you get your chickens! Yay. :ya

Since you have not built your coop or run yet, it gives us a chance to let you know what we have learned about it. :old "They" say you need 4 SF per bird in the coop and 10 SF per bird in the run, and I say my chickens would be at each other's throats if I only gave them that much space. :lau So build bigger than you think you will ever use!! And just make it predator proof from the get-go. You'll be happy you did. Or you can do it the way some of us have, and learn the hard way. :( Best of luck to you!!!

Wow! That’s wonderful that you are able to get such great materials already and have such a good plan! Do you know what breeds you want? If you scroll through there’s great info on the different breeds and each ones pros and cons, depending on where you live, your needs, etc...Everyone on here is super nice and will easily give you help with all of that...just ask! And we can’t wait to see pictures of your structures once more done...and of course, the chickens! So, from all of us at BYC, welcome and we look forward to learning more about you! :)
