Hi there, I'm new to this site as a member but have been following threads posted here for years and found people's knowledge and advice to be outstanding. I have kept backyard chooks since I was a kid & currently have 6 chickens (unfortunately only 6 due to council reg's). I've got a silver laced Sussex, gold laced Wyandotte who's hatched a lavender araucana & a GL Wyandotte and I'm raising an exchequer leghorn and a welsummer. All chicks are 7wks. I'm currently trying to establish gender for the chicks, the araucana is too young to tell now, pretty sure the GL Wyandotte is a cockerel and the leghorn & welsummer have me baffled. I posted pics in the which gender/breed thread but I'll post them here too. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. As a chick the welsummer had all the features of a female, and the partridge feathers say female but this development of black feathers on the chest has me baffled? Thoughts?

Welcome to Backyard chickens. I am not familiar with that breed . You could put that in the search box and see what comes up.

I have welsummer myself. The pullets will have what is called "extended eye liner? Meaning the brown ban should appear as though it crosses through the eye and heading back toward the ears. The females should also have a clearly defined arrow on top of the head pointing toward the beek. From the picture, I'd say that is s female. :)

Yay! She had the "Cleopatra eyeliner" markings & very strong dark V on her head as a chick & was sexed by the breeder as a female, I've thought female all this time until these black feathers started developing on her chest & I've started freaking out that i have a roo! No saddle feathers yet to check out shape. This is her as a chick.
