Hello! My name is Maria Chacon and thank you for accepting me into this group! I look forward to learning anything and everything about chickens!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
- I am new to chickens, I just got my first batch March 2020 & my second batch May 2020.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
- I have 28 Chickens. First flock has 13, second flock has 15.
(3) What breeds do you have?
- I believe I have, 3 Red Stars, 3 Black Stars, 3 Bielefelders, 3 Buff Rocks, 3 Delawares, 3 Ancona Whites, 3 Whiting True Blues, 3 Blue Laced Res Wyandottes, 4 Silver Spangled Hamburgs.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
- Started our wanting eggs, but now it’s so much entertainment just watching them free range throughout the day. Also, starting to learn what ones are real sweet and what ones are kinda sour patch kids. (First their sour then their sweet)
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
- I have 4 dogs also, so I spend lots of time with them playing with them and taking them on adventures. I also love kayaking.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
- It’s just me and my long term boyfriend. 4 dogs and 28 Chickens. We live in Montrose Colorado. I work in the cannabis industry as a procurement manager for the last 7 years. & My long term boyfriend manages a 100 acre hemp farm.

- Google & Facebook. Thanks for all information every time I need something! I joined because I’m realizing I have way more questions about chickens then I ever thought I would.
