Hi! I'm Marie,

I am new to chickens, I have raised meat chickens and turkeys for the last couple of years, but these are my first layers.
Currently I have 27 chickens and 6 turkeys that are a month and a half old.
I am unsure what the breeds are, I live in Ecuador and they call them layers or broilers. I need to Google image and find out what they are.
I love that they greet me when I go to see them. They jump on my back when I am bent over and love the swings and perches I have for them.
Some of my other hobbies are video gaming, crafting and crossstitching.
My husband and I are retired Royal Canadian Navy and we moved to Ecuador in 2021. My In-laws moved here in 2023 and live with us. We have 2 Yorkies and 2 Poodles. Our kids still live in Canada.
I am a part of the BYC FB group and read that the app had a whole lot of information. I have been a part of the FB group since May 2025

Right now we are in our cool season. Rainy and cloudy most of the time, but I'm sure I will seek ideas when the time comes. Thank you!

I live in SC, so it is really hot here right now. I do not have a lot of natural shade. I have learned through the years that double shading is very effective. One shade cloth or shade sail and then another 12-inches above or below that one.
