New Member: Match breed to each pullet?!

Do I have a pullet that is NOT an Ameraucana or Whiting True Blue or Whiting True Green?

  • One of your girls doesn't look like one of those 3 three breeds - but I don't know what it is!

Hi There!

I'm a relatively new chicken owner. My family started with day olds back in September (2018) and now have lovely pullets that seem to be happy in the backyard coop/run and well socialized with my family.

When it comes to the question of "which breeds do you have" the answer may be complicated. I ordered 3 different breeds of tinted egg layers - Easter Egger/Ameraucana, Whiting True Blue and Whiting True Green. So the answer is at least 3 different breeds. However, when asked if I wanted a "rare breed mystery chick" I caved and said yes! I lost a chick early on that may have been the rare breed, but I'm really not sure since there is some variety in how these breeds look.

So... I'm hopeful that some thoughtful veterans can match the chicken to the breed for me. Do all of my girls look like those three breeds to you? Simple feedback in the poll would be great! If you see a pullet that you can ID, please feel free to add a comment and specify chicken A, B, C, D, E, F or G! Please also specify what evidence you are using (comb, ear tufts, color, pattern, etc.).

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and to being a part of the backyard chicken community!

Truly,
Rae

The arrow is pointing to a Whiting True Blue or Whiting True Green
The other birds pictured are Easter Eggers as evidenced by the pea comb, muffs, and beard

Thanks! I have so much to learn! I would have sworn the arrowed Whiting in the upper image was an EE!! It doesn't matter that her comb is much bigger than the other Whitings?
