We went back and forth trying to decide to build or buy. We have a ton of scrap materials laying around and only needed to purchase a few things but it was time that was the problem. Well if we need to change in the future then we will. May I ask what exactly you changed or didn’t like about a pre fab?

First thing I don't like about a Pre Fab is when the 40-50-mph wind gusts come, it's gone.

Second thing, when it says it holds 5-6, that's twice what it actually can hold. A chicken coop should have 4 square feet per bird minimally, and more if they may get locked in at all due to winter/weather.

Poorly made, always too small, everyone one of them - if they say it is good for 10, then it’s barely big enough for 3. Poor ventilation.

Think of it like this, if the chickens need to be in all day because of weather, or maintenance; could they be? Could you walk into the coop and sit with them? Could you put food and water in there if need be and they still have plenty of room to walk around? I don’t have time to build either. That’s why I converted a shed.

If you get high winds there, I would look at securing the roof better as that's the first to go. Otherwise, looks very nice!!

Thank you, that’s what we discussed as well, husband has been a roofing contractor for 40 years and the first thing we said is “ let’s secure this roof better”
