I was on BYC a while back, but because life did what it did, I started then got to where I didn't/couldn't post or read much - but I'm back!!

I have entered a new phase in my life - the AMAZING phase!!

I now have a fantastic hubby, a few acres, a horse, 3 goats, 2 cats (his and mine) and LOTS of chickens!! Currently, we are selling eggs at the farmer's market and raising chickens for the freezer. We have several breeds, but will eventually switch over to Australorps exclusively. That is, unless I can talk him into letting me have a separate pen with "pretties". :) Probably won't be a hard sell, though, he likes them almost as much as I do.
We still have my original "pets" - 6 of them.

The breeds I have are:
Cochin (standard and bantam)
Americauna
Australorp
Cuckoo Maran
Freedom Ranger
Silkie (bantams - one is a showgirl)
Silkie/Polish mix

My next door neighbor has gotten me back on BYC - now just gotta remember what he said his user name is - sigh......

I'm looking forward to being a fully functioning member now.

Welcome Back!!!

Thanks! As I think I said, my neighbor has gotten me back on BYC. He is an amazing young man. He's only 12, but so incredibly smart! And polite and respectful and crazy and loveable and silly - - well, you get the idea. He and I have had several really great conversations about the chickens and goats. He reminds me a bit of my daughter when she was his age - very inquisitive and hungry for knowledge.

I think I'll always have "pretties". I'm just that kind of person and hubby knows it. I have to be truthful, though, he's already said I can have a couple of pets - meaning 2 or 3 - forever if I like. I would like them to have their own house and yard, though. We'll see. We only have 4.2 acres and it only goes so far.....
