Hey

1. I'm Chrissy, I'm in Cairns in Queensland, Australia, and I'm a soon to be new chook owner
2. I don't have any chooks right now, but I am planning on 3-4
3. I think they will be silkies
4. While I am looking forward to some eggs, I appreciate this breed lays less and can go broody. Still, a great bonus for me is that they aren't too destructive and can free range my garden and eat all the bugs - a mutually beneficial relationship
5. Gardening, arts & crafts
6. All of my children are fluffy. I have a Samoyed, a JRT Westie X and two cats
7. I've been doing my homework and prepping for my girls, so BYC and Chickenpedia have become my favourite places to hang out

I'm super eggcited to receive any wisdom you wish to impart, especially given my recent arrival to the tropics. Do you have any tips to keep my pets safe & healthy?

Chrissy, Bobo Baggins, Scritch, Milo & Jack (oh, and a poor husband who didn't want any pets, so we compromised and got lots of pets!)

Hints
Don't overcrowd them.

Get familiar with what foods are feeding no-no's for chickens.

Make sure coop is adequate size and ventilation .
