New member to BYC Hi there!

:frow Hi there, fellow PNWer!! So glad you joined!

Congratulations on your new homestead! How old are your children? My daughter was 4 when we first got baby chicks and she spent quite a lot of time with them... singing to them, and playing house, etc. Our Barred Rock, Pepper was particularly friendly and social, and often joined her play sessions up in her clubhouse.

Buff Orpingtons are also really friendly. Our first one wasn't too bright though, and somewhat aloof at times. But our newest buff, Muffin, is super sweet and will hop on your shoulder any time you stand still long enough. Guess it just depends mostly on their individual personality... you never really know what you're going to get!

Have fun building your flock and stop by and visit any time!

Hi everyone! I'm Katie, I live in a rural community in the PNW, recently locating to a new house on acreage so I'm starting to rebuilt my flock and getting geared up to add to my little homestead.

After about 4 years of raising a small backyard flock, I finally decided to join BYC. I dont have any friends or family who currently have a flock so I figured it would be a good idea to be on here for guidance, advice and conversation.

Currently I have 3 "fluffy butts", a Columbian Wyandotte named Camilla, a Wellsummer named Beauty and an Australorp named the Beast. We're going to be adding to our flock soon and want more child friendly birds as I have 2 kids; one who is old enough to help and one who isn't but is completely as enamored by them as I am.

While still new to raising chickens, I feel like I have a pretty good handle on things but always need advice and always asking questions so I look forward to all the new things I'm going to learn and interesting conversations I'll have!
Hi @Katiebee72 ! Thanks for introducing yourself. I really nice introduction as well.
