Hi all, new here but this has been my go-to spot for a long time since I first started raising chickens a few years ago. I live in Southern Nevada and was in the city, so I only had a few chickens so I didn't feel the need to join, I thought 4 chickens weren't really worth it and it couldn't be that hard. Boy was I wrong. I was on here more often than not to get information on everything from food to medical treatment. And now, I've moved from the city into a rural town with way more acreage, expanded my flock, and added ducks, Guinea Fowl, Peacocks, and hopefully soon some Emus. As well as other animals, I've turned into a rescue of sorts. My newest additions are a Game Fowl Rooster that was discarded after losing a fight and 3 kittens left in the desert in a paint bucket. I started incubating eggs last summer in a tiny incubator from Tractor Supply, just to try it and fell in love with hatching. Beginning of January I got a Brinsea cabinet incubator, to up my hatching game and hatch show breeds. I didn't know show chickens were a thing until last year and fell in love with it. It's so fun, a bit stressful at times but so much fun. I finally (yes sometimes I'm a bit slow lol) realized that I come back here, almost daily if not multiple times a day for information and advice. Sometimes just for a good laugh, some of you are extremely funny! It finally dawned on me that I should probably join considering this is my go-to spot for all my information and encouragement, so here I am finally official. I've just received Emu eggs as a birthday gift and will be putting them in the incubator this weekend. I tried and failed last summer to hatch them, but hopefully, with the new setup and incubator, this time will be successful. It's dry as heck here and keeping a steady humidity is near impossible so having an auto humidity on the incubator I'm hoping will fix my hatch rates. I'm currently in the process of hatching Call Ducks, which from what I know from a lovely neighbor, is really hard to do. So if you have any advice, on hatching, incubators, raising, medical, food, anything at all. Feel free to let me know! I love getting new ideas, and tips, and will probably try almost all of them.
