I don't know. Ours have always had black, but it all has to do with their genes. I don't think it would matter to the definition of the breed, though.

Thats about what they cost everywhere i've seen. the only cheap time to buy them is when their chicks.

Yah, that's what I'm realizing. I wouldn't mind raising them from chicks or even hatching them but I haven't found any DIY plans for a cost-effective incubator that I like. I'll have to keep digging. In the meantime I may have to bite the bullet and bring in some nice pullets.
