My immediate concern is that I hear my goose’s labored breathing when she eats. She takes a bite and swallows it and drinks water then holds her neck out and breathes loudly with catches in it. I just gave her Fenbendazole in case it was trachial worms. The vet was over last week and found nothing. I’m worried about her.
It would be good if you post a video of the goose doing this motion on the Geese forums, and I or another member can assist you there.
Tracheal worms are quite uncommon in geese. If you're seeing dyspnea of sorts, that could be obstruction of the trachea, either due to trauma, fungal spores such as Aspergillus, or a foreign object like seed, restricting proper airflow. If your goose is older, reproductive disorders like egg yolk peritonitis could be a concern, as that often puts pressure on the lungs due to the buildup of fluids in the abdominal cavity.
Ultimately, it can be hard to diagnose the problem without seeing a vet, so radiographs and tracheoscopy can be done. So, if a vet is an option, that might be the best route to take. For now, mixing her feed in with water, may make it easier for her to get everything down.
