New Member with mite issues

Neem Seed Oil works better than anything I have ever used. I put it full strength directly on the bird where the mites are, touching the skin. How much you use depends on how many mites they have. I have a rooster who the mites love to target, and finally something works very well and he gets some peace. I use it on him about every 3-4 weeks, when I see some mites on him again. I also put it on their roosts, to keep the mites off ones that are not infested. It doesn't take much on the roosts. I don't put it on any birds unless they have mites on them. I found the remedy here on BYC. There's a thread I believe called Need Oil for Mites.

I have never actually seen mites. Have examined several of the birds, just going by the symptoms. They shake their heads all the time. Have read and read and it serms they must have mites crawling around their ears causing the head shaking. I used pour on ivomec a year ago when the same thing happened and within a few days....no more head shaking. Didn't know about a second dose though and within a few months it started again. Improved somewhat over the summer but always gets worse when they are more confined to the indoors.

At that time I had been told a withdrawl period of 3-5 days for the eggs. After more researching, it seems longer than that, especially if you do a second dose. I really don't want to throw my eggs away for a month.
