new member with new chickens

Hi everyone,
I got my first 4 chickens last spring and feel like I learned a lot in this last year. I just purchased 2 more and found this site looking up one of our new breeds.
Right now I have 2 hens (a Rhode Island Red and a Black Americana) both of which are wonderful, funny and great layers. I just got 2 more Rhode Island Red chicks and a Black Sex Link chick. Over the year I had many questions and found answers in one of the 2 books I have or on the internet. We lost 2 of the original 4 and had to reinforce the coop so coyotes couldn't get in. This year I will have to figure out how to introduce the chicks to the hens when they are ready.

I have several hobbies which include sewing, knitting, crocheting and now quilting. My husband retired from Target and now spends most of his time on his music with the occasional help with the chickens mostly expanding their living space and keeping them safe from Arizona predators. I am a soon to be retired nurse. I have 2 children, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. I also have 5 Shih Tzus, 2 betas(fish), a Conur named Mongo (small parrot) and a Cockatiel named Fred.

Loss of them is never easy Welcome to Backyard Chickens best way to introduce is let them see each other a week but not touch then integrate with caution
