Hi all! New member here. I’ve been lurking for a few years, getting information (very helpful) to help me keep my chickens alive and happy. Decided to join today because I have a problem/question.
I have a broody hen setting on too many eggs. 1 hatched alive, 2 didn’t make it (not sure exactly what happened to them) and I removed all the eggs to the incubator. I had 2 others partially hatched that couldn’t seem to finish so I moved them to the incubator and removed the rest of the shell, leaving the umbilical cord attached. 1 is doing fine as of now, the other I think died. My question is, if the other one survives, can I put it back with the hen and her 1 live chick, or will she reject it?

Howdy, :frow and Welcome to Backyard Chickens.

Happy :ya to have you here with us. Enjoy your time here at BYC!

It will be a 'toss up', she may or may not accept it. Introduce the chick by putting it underneath her at night.

Thanks for joining our community! :celebrate

Hello and Welcome to BYC. Glad to have you here in this Poultry Loving Community. I would try as suggested above and put the chicks under her at night is she is still on the nest. I'd watch very closely to make sure she is not rejecting and would cause harm to them.
