Hi All

Started with our chickens November last year, raised 12 of them from chicks. Lost 6 silky bantams and 6 of the chickens I had raised from chicks, to a fox/s. Was devastating!

I now make sure that they are all nice and safe of a night, double check with husband the he has locked them up and he checks with me.

At the moment I have 6 egg laying Chickens with a Rooster, and 3 silky bantams with a Rooster. Also have 4 quail.

Love my birds, they give me a lot of laughs.


Joined BYC as there are questions that you sometimes have, so where better than to get questions answered by from like minded people.

Hi Ann, welcome to BYC, it's graet to have you as part of this flock. Sorry to hear about your losses, but sounds like you have got that under control now.
 
Silkies are extremely vulnerable to predator attacks, their crests and beards obscure their vision AND they aren't fliers. Sorry for your loses. Please check out the predator section for suggestions on beefing up your security.
