Hi I have Buff Orpingtons. Initially planned on free ranging, they currently have a coop & run as there are approx a month old. When they get bigger, they can free range then hoping they go home by dark. Here's a pic of a hawk visiting... I'm having second thoughts about free ranging...

Can't see a photo but, if you do free range you have to expect losses to predators. They can be just as happy and healthy in an enclosed run with top, to keep climbers, jumpers and air borne predators OUT. Welcome to BYC.

Today I saw two hanging around the yard. The coop is not done yet but they are safe.
