Good morning! I am fairly new to being a chicken momma. I inherited 9 laying hens from a friend, and recently purchased 12 new chicks (6 - 3 weeks old and 6 - 1 week old). Looking forward to gaining all kinds of chicken knowledge from BYC members.

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us.

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/category/learning-center.11/ and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread#post_3239224

All the best

Please watch out that the 3 week old chicks, don't bully and injure the 1 week olds. The two week difference in age is important when this young. The older chicks have all the advantage - and usually have determined pecking order in their group already

We haven't had any problems, but I keep a close eye on them and they have plenty of room to get away from each other......as for now the older chicks seem to be very tolerant of the littles hopping all over them and cuddling up when they go to sleep.
