Hi everyone, I am a first timer at incubating chicks. I have purchased a Janoel8 - 48 incubator and have 12 Silkie fertile eggs that arrived today - we have NOT put them in the incubator as yet! The temperature shows 37.6 but the humidity is at 60, we have tried mopping up water to bring it down. Can anyone please advise what to do here, agree with others the Janoel8 - 48 incubator instructions are not easy to follow, I've been googling crazy. Appreciate any advice - many thanks in advance!

G’Day from down under Nikster :frow Welcome!

Sorry, I only have experience with hatches under a broody hen but you might like to try posting your question on the Incubating & Hatching Eggs Forum.

Good luck!

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Hello @Nikster :welcome

You may benefit from making a forum under ‘Incubating and Hatching Eggs.’

In the top left corner, you click on the menu. Scroll down to forums, and click on it. There you can post your forum under what the problem is. (Example, ‘Incubating and Hatching Eggs’)

Hope that helps and have a wonderful time on BYC! :)

Hi there, I'm an Aussie in rural Victoria, not really computer savvy but will have a look at the Incubating forum - thanks heaps for your help

Welcome to Backyard chickens Nikster. I think posting on a hatching forum would be of great use to you. Also there is "Australia, six states and one funny little island," where you can post and ask your countrymen for assistance. They may be using the same type incubator as you are. Also I never learned the metric system. Have never incubated eggs either.
