Hi all, I'm April. I'v wanted my own chickens for a few years now and received 2 in early November from a friend that couldn't keep them. They hatched 9/13/17, and I have no idea what type of chickens they are. I'm afraid one may be a rooster since there's some crowing going on in the early morning and at daylight. Otherwise, they're really easy and I'm looking forward to adding a few more in the next few weeks. I can't wait to collect my first fresh eggs!!

Aside from the chickens I also have parakeets, cats and 2 dogs. Between garden and the fur and feathered babies my home is it's own country vacation spot in the city.

I have plenty of questions that I'll save until I've looked through the threads to see if my questions were already asked and answered. Right now I'm just relieved to have somewhere to go for support and guidance with my chickens.

:welcome so glad you have joined us.

Sounds like you do have a rooster - you can post pics under the breed/gender forum for confirmation. If you are planning to keep him, do investigate how many ladies you should have to keep the flock happy.

Adding newbies can still be a challenge, do explore the learning center articles and threads on adding to the flock / integrating new chickens to avoid disappointing surprises.
