Hello. My name is Rebecca. I live in central New Jersey. I am new to having chickens. I have 7 Right now. I don’t really know their breeds. We got them at Tractor Supply and they said 3 of them were red sex linked, 2 black jersey giants and 2 black and white chickens. Maybe someone can help me find out what they are. The chickens aren’t a year old yet and I believe they are molting. I think it’s too soon but not sure. I’ve checked for mites and lice but I don’t see any. It also looks like they are pecking each other. They started laying eggs in September. Ugh so much going on. Hopefully this board can help me in my journey.

Are you able to post photo's of them Welcome to Backyard Chickens I will need a few questions answered please are you able to post photo's of your coop, what are you feeding them ?

:welcomeWelcome!! I have learned so much from the folks here. Lots of seasoned chicken keeper veterans here. I have been at it for 8 years now and am still learning.

It does not sounds like your birds are molting they are a but too young. Feathers picking sounds more likely, what is your set up like? Maybe they just need a scooch more room.

Welcome again! You will love it here.
