I've had chickens, from day-old chicks for the last 3 yrs. so I guess I'm still a Novice. I learned a lot from your site and often want to contribute what different things I've discovered.
There was a post on "Chicken Memory". Mine are extraordinary in that they know where the coop is & when it's time to go in. I let them 'free-range' in the afternoons. They know where my access is to outdoors and can see me through windows. My girls follow me like ducklings following their mom. They hop onto my deck and cluck (Hey, it's time to go in coop)

Welcome to Backyard Chickens!:welcome This site is helpful, informative and if I didn't belong to this site my chick would of died! Asking questions sometimes is very important when you are desperate for one. Byc is AWESOME!!!!

So glad you joined us. :yesss: It's wonderful to see all you folks who have "been hanging around" finally join in the conversation! :clap Always room for more folks, be it new chickeneers or those who've been at it for decades! There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me :old will never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!
