You'll get lots of different thoughts on your last question and they are likely all correct. You'll need to find what works best for you and the girls. Personally, mine get breakfast at about 9 and get let out of their shelters. I chose that time in an effort to get eggs before they are let out... They get dinner about 5 (an effort to entice them to return to the protection of their electric fence and get ready for bed) and then go to bed and get locked up at dusk. Mine live on pasture with an electric fence, but they go where they wish during the day. I have a large flock and I do lose some to predators, but not too many. I've only got five of one of my rarest breeds and they are on permanent lock down until I can get that number up to 30 or more.

Hi rjohns, thank you so much for this, i have been on the internet looking for ideas but got sidetracked on to other , stuff like health problems, and today I've spent a small fortune on cleaning, feeding ,mite prevention and grit and they aren't even coming until the end of May, thanks again

G'Day from down under Mini Ethel Daisy :frowWelcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.
