Hi my name is Carmen and my son was gifted a fertile egg last Wednesday. We do not have an incubator and I have been carrying it around in my bra. We don’t currently have any chickens and I fear I may have accidentally killed our one egg today by taking it out during swimming lessons and leaving it in the car for the hour. When we candled it this evening the yoke wasn’t moving and now it is but we don’t see veins. We don’t know the breed. We found out about BackYardChickens.com by google search. I used to crochet and was learning how to sew but my life as a mom took over and now I just try to keep up with the five kiddos we have in the house. My children are 17, 11, twin 9 year olds and a 22 month old. We have no pets

Hi, Carmen, and welcome to BYC. An hour out of the 'bracubator' would most likely not have killed the egg, but excessive temperature in the car would have done so.

Sending good hatching vibes your way. Others may have hatched eggs the same way but, it is fraught with peril. An incubator would be must better and stable.
