In googling/researching city ordinances that allow chickens, I came across this site, and signed up. We are retired from farming, moved to the city to be closer to kids and grandkids. The city doesn’t allow chickens in city limits, and I want to get that changed. Today was my first step going to city hall and being told what I already knew, they don’t allow chickens.
I want to gather ordinances of cities in our state that do, all to a City Commissioner and ask for assistance. I went to the local food coop today and she said I could create a poster to put up and ask if there are other in the city who feel the same way, to contact me. I don’t feel the city will change an ordinance for just me. Strength in numbers.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I’ve never done anything like this before.
Yrs ago when we lived in the burbs, we joined a local 4H Club and they gave us the ability for AN EXEMPTION PERMIT. Worked out well for us.
Look into that possibility. Thanks for joining BYC.
